Coach 7

The most versatile software voor Science
and STEM education

Coach 7 is more than just data logging. This award-winning software integrates various tools that help students develop their digital STEM skills and learn in an inquiry-based way. The software can be installed on all school devices, whether they are laptops, tablets, or Chromebooks.

A small selection of the functionalities of the Coach software:

Measuring with sensors

The Measurement activities enable real-time data collection via an interface and sensors. The sensors are automatically recognized (plug & play), and you can measure with multiple sensors simultaneously.

You can display the measurement results in a data table or graph.

Data analysis

Analysis and processing functions include: slope, area under graph, function fit, graphing derivatives and integrals, calculating new variables, calculating a frequency spectrum, finding statistical data, and creating a histogram.

Modelling

With Coach, you can explore models of dynamically changing systems and also build your own. Students can use graphical or text models to test hypotheses or compare experimental data with model data.

Video analysis

With video measurement and anlysis, students can collect data from videos manually or automatically. Graphs are synchronized with the video frames. Students can record their own videos using a camera or mobile phone.

Programming

With Coach it is also possible to program control systems such as a traffic light, smart home or a titrator with WiLab or CoachLab II+.

Animations

The Animation environment consists of animated graphical objects, and interactive control objects (such as sliders) that can change the value of variables.

Integrated features of Coach 7

Coach 7 integrates diverse learning environments that facilitate an inquiry-based approach to education and allow students to demonstrate the connection between science and real life. This helps students understand the relevance of science to their lives and how science works.
In our approach, students work much like professionals. They collect high-quality real-time data, create and use models, use simulations and visual measurements, compare results from experiments and models, and thus deepen their own knowledge. They are encouraged to collaborate, discuss and analyze their findings, study/modify and test models, develop coherent arguments, and present their research.

If you do not need all the power of Coach 7, or you work with Primary School level students, Coach 7 Lite is available at no charge for use with the CMA interfaces. Register to get the password then download and install for free.

Lesson plans
for teachers and curriculum developers

To help teachers get started with Coach 7 and digital measurement and experiments, CMA offers ready-made teaching and learning activities. You can use these activities directly in your lessons or customize them to your own needs.
But Coach 7 offers more. It allows you to build activities with your own learning content. When logged in as an author, you can modify an existing activity or create a new one with the exact tools needed for the desired level of the students. Add your own text, images, videos, questions, and assignments for students. Create a screen layout in Coach 7 as you wish.

The CMA teaching materials are free for our Coach 7 users. Simply register with your Coach 7 License Code. Log in and view and download the activities for free.
