Description
When a magnet (included) falls into a tube, a voltage is induced in the coils as it passes through. This induced voltage can be measured using two 4 mm contact sockets.
The induction tubes can be used in physics experiments about induction and electromagnetism:
- To measure the voltage induced by the falling magnet
- To determine the change in magnetic flux in coils
- To investigate the relationship between the induced voltage and the velocity of the magnet
- To determine the distance between the magnet’s poles
- To illustrate magnetic braking (in the aluminum tube)
- To investigate the terminal velocity of the magnet falling through the aluminum tube
More information can be found in the induction tubes manual, see downloads.
